Sandy had a severe impact on some beaches and dunes in New Jersey, but several beaches benefited from the superstorm, according to a map.
The map - created at the Coastal Research Center at Richard Stockton College of New Jersey in Galloway - shows winners to big losers days after the storm.
Impacts include severe loss of sand and total dune failure at some beaches along the center's 27-year-old New Jersey Beach Profile Network.
Thanks go to B. Steven Howard, geospatial analyst at the center, and center director Stewart C. Farrell for providing the map to me.
